‘The very basis of esoteric acupuncture revolves around the understanding & balancing of the energies of the chakras. Balancing the chakras will begin the process of balancing us on different levels physically, emotionally, psychologically, mentally & spiritually’- M. Sankey
Chakra Alignment Patterns.
The seven Chakra Alignment Patterns are designed to activate & harmonize the physical body chakras, allowing us to access the wealth of information & experiences stored within them. These patterns are recommended to ensure that the chakras are cleansed, strengthened & balanced to provide a firm foundation before one proceeds to the more advanced New Encoding Patterns. Together, they form a body of patterns which benefit from repeated treatments and meditation.
The outcome of the Chakra Patterns will vary considerably from client to client, depending on where each individual is on their own path of development. Those clients who already do their own inner work on a regular basis will generally be able to gain much more from these patterns. However, the Chakra Alignment Patterns are also very beneficial as an introduction to the energies and issues relevant to each of the chakras. What we get out of these patterns is very dependent on what we have put in, in terms of inner work (whether in this life or another), and they can be experienced on many different levels as a result. Always though, the experiences are healthy, balanced and beneficial.
What follows is a summary of some of the key associations of each of the seven major chakras
Base Chakra
(Lower Calibration Tree Of Life Pattern )
The base or root chakra is concerned with survival issues, providing food & shelter and connecting with the physical world. It also governs the basic drive to procreate, to ensure survival. If one has trouble making ends meet or in providing the basic necessities of life, this may signify a root chakra imbalance. Other indicators might be an excessive attachment to material possessions, an inability to let go of material objects, memories or negative emotions.
This chakra is also concerned with family or structured groups to which we might belong. An imbalance may give rise to issues around a person failing to take responsibility for their own actions and chosing instead to hide behind the group norm as an excuse. The need to belong to the group may become more important than the need to act as an individual. Overly focussing on fitting in or giving in to peer pressure or conversely, trying desperately to stand out from the crowd, are further indicators of root imbalance.
A strong base chakra provides us with a sense of groundedness, stability & solidity. This pattern will establish the energies needed for this strong & stable foundation.
Sacral Chakra.
(Second Chakra Yang Pattern)
The sacral chakra is concerned with creativity and our ability to express our creative potential, with power & our ability to harness it effectively and appropriately, with recognition and with money, our relationship to it and how we manage it. Chronic money problems (often accompanied by lower back pain) can be indicators of sacral blocks or imbalance. Those who find themselves feeling controlled or conversely, behaving in an over-controlling manner or those who are prone to exaggeration and over embellishment are likely to be out of balance in this area.
This is also the chakra of sexuality, wherin lies our desire to engage in sex for pleasure rather than purely for reproduction & survival. Second chakra balancing can assist in strengthening sexual energies, or relaxing the need in those who are overly driven. It can also enable us to better define & honour our own sexual boundaries.
This chakra is the seat of our will to survive and drive to succeed, along with the home of our fears & insecurities. It can be a beneficial focus for those who are prone to giving up easily, or who never attempt tasks for fear of failure.
A strong sacral chakra provides a true basis for our own personal power on all levels.
Solar Plexus Chakra
(Solar Plexus Chakra Yang Pattern)
The solar plexus chakra is the one most closely linked to emotions, desires & feelings. Imbalances may lead to a person who is unable to express or get in touch with their feelings, or one who is overly sensitive & ruled by their feelings, perhaps to the extent that they are unable to meet even minor challenges without tears or outbursts of emotion.
Stubbornness or an unwillingness to be flexible, indecision, procrastination or a general lack of direction in life are all associated with solar plexus imbalances or blocks. Memories of childhood are thought to be stored & accessed through this chakra. Issues about feeling over-responsible or failing to take responsibility for our actions may arise here, along with issues around how truthful we are with & about ourselves.
Those with a strong solar plexus chakra will be emotionally balanced & stable, with a sense of moving forward in life with purpose & direction. Some of the higher functions of this chakra are those of intuition, telepathy & psychic powers.
Heart Chakra
(Heart Chakra Yang Pattern)
The heart chakra is the centre of love, wisdom & compassion. It is where we experience the innocent joy of being, where we find forgiveness for ourselves & for others.
When this chakra is out of balance a person may be unable to accept kindness or receive graciously, instead chosing to look for an ulterior motive for genuine heartfelt giving; or perhaps may give only in the hope of receiving in return.
A heart imbalance may lead to stuck negative emotions such as anger and bitterness, speaking harshly of others or being unable to forgive perceived hurts. There may be feelings of loneliness or fear of being alone, where one perhaps sees staying in an unhappy relationship as preferable to being alone. Self centredness is another trait common to heart imbalance.
A strong heart chakra bestows the ability to be emotionally appropriate in situations and to be open to the emotional energetics of where we find ourselves. In its highest form the heart chakra is concerned with the search for pure knowledge & absolute truth.
Throat Chakra
(Throat Chakra Yang Pattern)
The throat chakra is linked to the mental body and is the centre of verbal expression and of speaking our truth with honesty and integrity. It is also the centre of choice, of our Higher Will and our faith in Divine guidance.
Those with a throat chakra imbalance may find it difficult to speak out or express themselves, perhaps through lack of self confidence, a fear of being ridiculed or of retaliation, punishment or abandonment. Stuttering is one such manifestation of a fear of speaking out or speaking one's truth. An inability to express the self with honesty & integrity may lead this chakra to hold deep unresolved sadness.
A throat chakra imbalance can manifest as a need to be recognised, to constantly attempt to express the self to any who will listen. Or a person may feel that it is their time to be heard but have an inability to speak up. There may be resentment, anger or envy towards others who are being heard & receiving recognition for it.
A strong, balanced throat chakra enables honest & positive self expression. In its Highest aspect, this chakra is concerned with psychic energies & psychic power. It is where we learn to comprehend non verbal thought forms & higher truths. It is the pathway to higher knowledge and to speaking & acting in accordance with Divine Will.
Brow Chakra
(Indigo Triangle Pattern)
The brow chakra is the seat of our intellect, intuition & reasoning, of perception & comprehension.
In balance it brings to us a clear understanding of our purpose in life and of how we fit into the Divine Plan. It assists us in our search for truth, in the parting of veils of illusion and in trusting in the unseen.
Here is where we find our ability to learn from experience whilst being open to the ideas of others; where we become consciously aware of & are able to evaluate & change our beliefs & attitudes. It is the seat of our emotional intelligence.
Crown Chakra
(Crown Chakra Pattern)
The crown chakra is our connection to our spiritual nature and its state of harmony is reflected in our capacity to allow our spirituality to become an integral part of our lives. Here we find our ability to trust in life and to see the bigger picture, letting go all illusions and fears, to live in the present moment. It is through this chakra that we see our connection to all of Life, receive inspiration, realise our spiritual devotion.
Only with a balanced and open crown chakra will we attain our highest level of consciousness and spiritual awareness. It is the gateway through which we access our Divine Wisdom and Power.
Imbalance leads to living the illusion of separation; focussing on past events or future possibilities; a lack of trust in life.
